The EJ198 is a PCIe Gen2 to Universal Serial Bus 3.0 host controller, which complies with PCIe Gen2 specifications, USB3.0 specifications and eXtensible Host Controller Interface (xHCI) 1.0.

Is this happening only with USB flash drives?
Did you tired connecting some other USB devices?
What is the make and model of your PC?
If USB does not work properly after you plug it in, it’s probably because of one of the following causes:
Windows can’t find a driver for the USB device
Windows doesn't recognize the USB device
There's a problem with the device
The driver for the device is faulty
The USB port is defective
The device isn't getting enough power
Suggest you to check for any available Windows Updates pending out there. If any try to install them and see if it fix the issue. Check and install the latest chipset and USB drivers for your device from Manufacture website to see if it resolve the issue.
Try with the below mentioned steps and check if it works.
* Restart you PC after complete shutdown.
* Plug in the device, when you're on desktop screen
* Press Windows Key then type ‘troubleshoot’ and select same from the list.
* Select “View all” on the left panel and run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter from the list.
What Is A Host Controller
* Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Apply repair automatically”. Also ensure to select Run as administrator.
* Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process. Now check if they work.
